Wego, the largest online travel marketplace in MENA (Middle East and North Africa), has unveiled the latest insights into the travel trends of Kuwaiti travelers for the first quarter of 2024. The data reveals intriguing patterns in destination searches and preferences among Kuwaiti jetsetters, shedding light on their wanderlust and travel intent.

Wego data showed that the top 10 countries that Kuwaiti globetrotters are searching for the most during this period include Egypt, India, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Turkey, Jordan, Pakistan, Qatar, the United Kingdom, and the Philippines.

Travel interest to Egypt itself makes up about half of all trip searches originating from Kuwait. In a further breakdown of the data, Wego also found that Cairo, Sohag, Assiut, Alexandria, and Luxor rank highly as cities Kuwait travelers are searching for in Q1 this year.

According to the travel experts at Wego, the popularity of Egyptian destinations among travelers flying from Kuwait can be attributed to several factors.

The significant Egyptian expat community in Kuwait may plan to return to Egypt for Ramadan or part of it. The searches may also include plans to celebrate Eid al Fitr at home.

Moreover, the favorable exchange rate between the Kuwaiti Dinar and the Egyptian Pound encourages Egyptians living abroad to return home for significant occasions like Ramadan. This economic advantage also presents Egypt as an affordable travel destination for Kuwaiti tourists.

While Egyptian cities steal the spotlight, other cities elsewhere also feature on most-searched destinations from Kuwait this quarter. Istanbul, for one, is a perennial favorite for its charm, affordability, and visa-free entry perk afforded to Kuwaiti passport holders.

The same no-visa-required arrangement similarly draws them to London, one of the most sought-after European destinations from Kuwait. Wego also spotted accessible emerging destinations like Baku and Tbilisi down the list—both cities can be reached by flights within a 3-hour duration—hinting at a growing interest in unique cultural experiences among Kuwaiti travelers.
