Dubai, 2 October, 2014 – Wego today announced the appointment of Mamoun Hmedan as General Manager, Middle East & North Africa (MENA) who will lead the regional team based in the Dubai Internet City and also the launch of a TV advertising campaign targeting Arabic speaking markets across the region.
Hmedan first joined Wego in 2013 in the role of Manager, Media Sales – MENA. He was pivotal in establishing Wego’s media business in the region and also in the setup of Wego’s Private Advertising Marketplace which provides media agencies programmatic access to advertising inventory via their trading desks. Hmedan has been acting-GM since April this year.

This TV campaign will introduce the Wego brand and product to a much wider audience.”
The new Arabic language TV campaign features local talent from around the region and was produced in Dubai by Stargate Studios. It is a series of six commercials that showcase various travel shopping scenarios and traveler types amongst the online traveler segment being targeted. The ads feature a humourous style and communicate the benefits of using Wego to compare the prices for flights and hotel rooms across many travel agency, airline and hotel websites.
Wego launched the first travel metasearch sites fully localised into Arabic in April 2012, the success of which led to a full service operation based in Dubai which opened in February 2013. Since then Wego’s 12 Middle East country sites, the largest of which are Wego Saudi Arabia (http://sa.wego.com) and Wego UAE (http://www.wego.ae), have been growing extremely rapidly. Earlier this year, Wego launched the world’s first travel app for iOS in Arabic, with right to left functionality which quickly took number one spot in the iTunes App Store in Saudi Arabia.
