SINGAPORE, May 15th 2013 – Wego, the leading travel metasearch engine in Asia Pacific and the Middle East, has partnered with eight new European low-cost airlines as travellers increasingly discover exciting and affordable destinations outside of the region’s capitals.
Thousands of fresh routes and airfares operated by Spain’s rapidly growing Vueling Airlines, French XL Airways, British Monarch, Air Berlin and Brussels Airlines, Latvian airBaltic AS, Turkey’s Pegasus Airlines and Icelandic WOW air have opened up a world of travel opportunities for Wego users across the company’s 50 customised sites, available in 30 languages globally.
“We’re so excited to welcome these key European carriers into Wego’s extensive airline inventory,”
stated Dean Wicks, Chief Flights Officer for Wego.
“Today’s travellers seek more than a holiday, they want an experience and these airlines connect to a whole new world of exhilarating travel opportunities.”
Iceland’s dramatic natural environment from volcano tours to waterfalls along with its unique entertainment and culture has piqued interest in the country. Turkey, now ranked sixth most visited country in the world, is attracting more visitors thanks to locations featured recently in James Bond film ‘Skyfall’ and the increased popularity of the Cappadocia landscape.
“Tourism to the Baltic regions and the exotic magnetism of destinations around the Mediterranean are becoming more frequently sought out by both long and short haul travellers,”
explained Wicks.
“Incorporating these popular airlines who offer extensive European connections and availability at a budget price will help heighten interest and makes a valuable addition to our users’ itineraries.”
Beyond European destinations, the additional low-cost airline partnerships open links to Marrakech, Sharm el Sheikh, Dubai, Phuket, Cancun, Las Vegas and San Francisco. Business travel will also benefit from greater options for London, Frankfurt, Moscow and New York.
“Many of the budget carriers offer a 30 to 40 minute check-in deadline making last minute decisions to fly no issue, saving valuable time, as well as money,”
added Wicks.
“We believe that Wego users, including our corporate travellers will find our expanded European portfolio of airlines an essential component to travel planning.”
Wego currently compares 700 sites to deliver savings to its users, on over 600 full service and low-cost airlines, 400,000 hotels and resorts as well as a further 400,000 holiday rental properties.
Other European low-cost carriers already comparable in the company’s sites include Jet2.com, Aer Lingus, and Condor. Familiar online travel agents such as recently signed BudgetAir and Bravofly broaden the booking options for Wego users even further.
