Joachim Holte from Wego said the results ultimately reflect positively on both states: “The traditional competition between these two fantastic Australian cities will continue to spark comparisons for some time to come. It’s wonderful to see overall however the ratings for hotels in both cities are of a generally high standard.
“Internet and WiFi continue to be a thorn in the side of the hotel industry, not just in Australia but in many destinations. As travellers, we expect quality internet that is readily available so we can remain easily connected wherever we go. This is improving, albeit perhaps a little slower that we’d like.
“Most importantly, service and beds rank high in the approval ratings and with food and breakfast rated in the mid-seventies, I think both cities should feel fairly proud of themselves.”
