Kuala Lumpur, March 20th 2012 – Global travel metasearch site Wego has launched Malaysia’s very own dedicated accompanied by new and innovative technology to compare the price and availability of flights and accommodation across hundreds of different travel sites simultaneously. also contains the new proprietary ‘popular search’ algorithm, allowing users to select from among 350,000 accommodation options, from online industry giants such as Agoda, Expedia, and, as well as local and international hotel groups and independents. The listings will appear ranked according to what is ‘Popular with Malaysians’, reflecting what is considered well-priced and placed locally.

To illustrate, on the most frequently searched route from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore on, the five most popular hotels are:

This form of presentation appears intuitive to frequent travellers, but is very reassuring to those who don’t travel as often. Hotel Reviews are also aggregated from multiple sites and summarised for each property, displaying the consensual view at a glance. also includes the DateWise™ Fare Finder tool enabling users with flexible travel dates to view a graphic calendar displaying the lowest fares over a month for all carriers. For example, on flights from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore this month, DateWise™ presents a graph showing round-trip fares for RM83 with Jetstar Asia Airways or one-way at RM49 with Tiger Airways.

As Ross Veitch, Chief Executive Officer at Wego explained:

Once a hotel or a flight selection is made Wego connects the user directly to the partner site to make their booking.

Malaysia was one of the earliest of Wego’s 35 localised sites to go live. It was a priority, not just as one of the company’s largest markets, but because of the continued expansion of the low cost carrier network stimulating demand, particularly on domestic and regional routes. From usage in Malaysia, Wego has seen AirAsia replace Malaysia Airlines as its most frequently searched airline.

Wego witnessed domestic flight searches to Tawau, Tioman and Miri rising and prepared the display of schedules and hotel options accordingly. These destinations have since entered the top 10 domestic searches by Malaysian users.

Wego soft-launched the site late last year, adding Bahasa Malaysia, Chinese or English language options, local currency and local dynamic content. has since seen a 120 per cent increase in traffic, confirming that the new design is resonating successfully with local travellers.
